Job Summary:
The Utility Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the supply chain activities within the energy and utilities sector. This role entails managing procurement, inventory management, logistics, and vendor relationships to ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of materials, equipment, and services required for utility operations. The Utility Supply Chain Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure continuity, compliance, and sustainability across the utility supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategies to optimize the utility supply chain, ensuring uninterrupted supply of materials, equipment, and services.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand utility requirements and align supply chain processes accordingly.
3. Manage the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management, to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
4. Monitor inventory levels to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing surplus and obsolete inventory.
5. Oversee logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of supplies.
6. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as disruptions, compliance issues, and sustainability concerns.
7. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring performance evaluations and continuous improvement.
8. Monitor market trends and technological advancements to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
9. Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to manage budgeting, forecasting, and cost control activities related to the utility supply chain.
10. Stay updated on regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to the utility supply chain.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience of at least 5 years in supply chain management, preferably within the energy and utilities industry.
3. Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory management, logistics, and vendor management.
4. Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
5. Proficiency in using supply chain management software and tools.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to collaborate and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
9. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
10. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and sustainability practices within the utility industry.
Note: The Utility Supply Chain Manager may be required to travel occasionally to visit suppliers, attend industry conferences, or participate in training programs.
